3pm. June 23rd 2010. Newcastle. Sunny afternoon. Cup fever vibe. It was live aid but without Bob pleading to 'give us your money now!' It was do or die and the boys delivered the minimum required to progress to the next stage. But the biggest challenge for us was that if we're not in Port Elizabeth where was the best place to watch the match? Some of the team were in our boardroom and quite a few of us were at a warehouse in the Hoults Yard in Newcastle. A converted warehouse with a large screen and platforms to create a terrace feel and 300 plus suited bankers, lawyers and us creative types 'enjoying' the hospitality orgnaised by O communcations, UBS and Muckles. Hog roasts and iced beers were laid on and music was by carnival band the Baghdaddies and once the post match interviews were over we saw the screening of 'One night in Turin' - Linekar, Gazza, Bobby Robson et al. Fast forward 20 years and substitute with Gerrard, Rooney, Capello. Roll on One night in Bloemfontein'.
